Nimara was in the barracks, cleaning off her riding straps after a long day of flying and between practice. It seemed... lonely... in the barracks recently. Molly and Cap'n had already moved to private weyrs, as their dragons had outgrown the weyrlings' quarters, which had left the bluerider feeling a bit adrift.

Today, though, D'then was with her in the relative quiet. Looking over at him, a sudden thought tugged at her heart that she had not been able to address before. She scooted a little closer and swallowed to clear her throat before she whispered from somewhere around his shoulder: "Are you really gonna leave?"  Big blue eyes looked up at him, innocent and inquisitive and maybe a little sad.

D'then remembers the day they had interrogated Nimara. The way she had cried. She was always the softest of their class, but he wouldn't call her weak. She'd been chosen for a reason, and she took to this better than anyone probably could.

And when she confronts him as he's repairing his straps, he can't help but stare off. "I... Don't know," he says, lamely. "I don't know where I'd even go now." Meneth is harder to care for than he expected, and there's so much that goes into ensuring even a blue's health...
"Oh," she replied, her tone quiet but not judgmental. Nim liked D'then. He had a strong sense of right and wrong that she valued. (Not that there were a lot of her classmates she didn't like. Nimara was inclined to like people, in general.)  "I don' know where I'd go, either," she admitted.

All her life she'd known only Tillek's harbor and the sea. She had gone where her superior officers had sent her... And, she supposed, that's what she'd continue to do. Her choice was easy. His was hard.

"S'pose you don' gotta decide right away, though." Nim smiled up at him, her attempt at being comforting. "Could always stay fer now, and figure out where ya wanna go later." With winter coming, threadfall wouldn't be so bad. She'd heard rumors that riders had more free time in the winter. Maybe he could explore with that time?
