V'shaer had long made peace with the supposed fact of his brother's death turns ago. He..didn't know what to think, or how to feel. To know that Tafty was still out there, somewhere, after all this time...he had to try and find him. Maybe they wouldn't ever rekindle a familial bond, but he had to know he was at least okay. And...do a lot of catching up. Velyre, apparently, had a similar amount of catching up to do. She'd apparently had the benefit of knowing Tafty throughout his childhood, at least. V'shaer...only had the vaguest memory of what his brother was like, at this point.
The brief glimpses he'd gleaned of Velyre since meeting her, it didn't surprise him that they'd gotten along. Tafty had been a bit of the eccentric sort, with perhaps morbid interests. V'shaer was glad he'd gotten to have a friend throughout his life. And if he could help Velyre rekindle that friendship...he wanted that, too. Best case scenario, all three of them emerged from all of this as friends. And he'd have his brother back- or just...in Benden. He wouldn't mind that. He could visit.
He figured it would be best to hit two wherries with one stone with this trip- explore both Benden hold and the Weyr, and take Velyre with him- two sets of eyes were better than just his own. Liarakath was help, too, but only so much when she didn't know who she was really looking for, or what he looked like. Between all of them, though, surely they could at least get some word of where Tafty was?
V'shaer just hoped he wasn't still wandering the wilds, that he had surely found a more permanent home somewhere. Velyre made it sound that way, that he was better off in life now.
They all needed answers. When Velyre was free, he'd summoned her to take her to the hold first- they could both do a bit of searching there before moving to the Weyr if need be. He greeted the woman with a kind, if urgent, smile, and assisted her up to Liara's saddle.
We'll find him. Liarakath rumbled hopefully. There wasn't an ounce of doubt in her voice. Once they were both situated, she was aloft. And then we'll all be well again. Hold your breath, Velyre, we'll be going between in a moment!
Just a few seconds of the unforgiving, breathless cold V'shaer was all-too accustomed to at this point. They emerged over a late evening Benden hold, alive with laborers, nobles and civilians alike. Liarakath landed heavily just at its borders, with the more stately buildings just out of view. She crouched to let V'shaer and Velyre off. I wish I could help you both. I will keep my eyes open, anyway!
V'shaer patted her shoulder affectionately before making his way into the hold. He'd never been to Benden once in his life- he was taken to Tempest by a searchrider before he'd had the chance to wander that direction, for better or for worse. "Alright. Since...you've known him longer-" That hurt him to say more than he cared to admit. "-do you know where he might usually stay? Might be easier to...check those places first, then branch out from there. Did he ever work as a healer with you..?"
